A 29-year-old Fort Thompson, SD, man convicted of Felon in Possession of a Firearm has been sentenced in federal court.
Craig Ross was sentenced to 26 months in federal prison, followed by 2 years of supervised release. He pled guilty in November.
The conviction stemmed from an incident in July 2018 when Ross, having previously been convicted of a felony, was apprehended by law enforcement in possession of a firearm. Law enforcement had heard gun shots and located Ross and another individual with a rifle.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and make neighborhoods safer for everyone.
