The national gas price average went up a penny in the past week to land at $2.89 per gallon.
AAA spokesperson Marilyn Buskohl says today’s average is 16 cents more than last month and eight cents more expensive than this time last year.
In South Dakota, the average price for a gallon of gasoline is down a penny for the week at $2.77. The current average is 11 cents more than last month and 7 cents more than last year at this time.
The nation’s least expensive markets are: Alabama ($2.50), Mississippi and Louisiana ($2.52) and South Carolina ($2.53).
