A 27-year-old man from Pierre convicted of being a Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm has been sentenced in US District Court.
Kyle Bordeaux was given time served, totaling 144 days in federal prison, 2 years of supervised release and ordered to forfeit a semi-automatic pistol.
The conviction stemmed from an incident on March 16, 2019, in Hughes County, where Bordeaux knowingly being an unlawful user of and addicted to a controlled substance, possessed a .45 AUTO caliber, semi-automatic pistol.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and make neighborhoods safer for everyone. This case is also part of Project Guardian, the Department of Justice’s initiative to reduce gun violence and enforce federal firearms laws.
