35 briskets, 200 people served from Backyard BBQ Competition during Trader Days in Fort Pierre

The aprons say the 3rd annual event was held Saturday (Aug. 15) in Fort Pierre, but it was actually the 4^th time the Backyard BBQ Competition has been held in Fischers Lilly Park.

The event served 35 briskets to over 200 people throughout the day Saturday. Verendrye Museum board member Wyatt Johnson presented the awards.

The 1st place team was Bad River Mafia, Tex’s Jack Repair Buddy Jorgensen.

2nd place went to CHS, Chris Carter

Not pictured: 3rd place went to Degenstein’s Hometown BBQ, Lenny Degenstein.

The 2020 Backyard BBQ People’s Choice Award went to Longhorn BBQ, Ken Sosa.
