A 39-year-old man from Pierre faces burglary and drug possession charges after an attempted residential burglary yesterday (Sun.) shortly before 7am.
Pierre Police captain Bryan Walz says the victim called 911 to report he was sleeping on the couch when he woke to find a man in his living room attempting to steal his phone and wallet. Officers responded to the 100 block of North Poplar Avenue and were able to locate a subject matching the description given by the victim a short distance away. Markus Knight was identified as the person who had entered the victim’s home.
Knight was taken into custody and charged with 2nd Degree Burglary. Marijuana was located on Knight’s person at the time of his arrest resulting in the Possession of Under 2 ounces of Marijuana charge.
Knight was transported to the Hughes County Jail.
