Pierre city workers have blocked off parking along the stretch of Pleasant Drive from Poplar Avenue to Central Avenue this (Tues.) morning to prepare the area for curb and gutter work this coming construction season.
A city spokesperson says tree root systems will often damage infrastructure, such as causing sidewalks to heave. The trees are coming down to prevent them from damaging the new curb and gutter that is scheduled to go in this year.
