Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre is one of five Avera facilities listed among the Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals in the United States.
The other four making the list complied by the Chartis Center for Rural Health are:
• Avera Queen of Peace (Mitchell)
• Avera Sacred Heart Hospital (Yankton)
• Avera St. Luke’s Hospital (Aberdeen)
• Lakes Regional Healthcare (Spirit Lake, Iowa, an Avera managed facility)
Avera St. Mary’s President and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mikel Holland says they are honored to be on the list and credits the team of experienced professionals who serve with dedication and compassion. He says they are focused on providing the highest quality care possible– close to home.
Avera President and CEO Bob Sutton says Avera is proud that several of their facilities have repeatedly been named among the nation’s top rural hospitals. He says the hard work of Avera professionals, especially during the challenges of the historic COVID-19 pandemic, is recognized by this honor.
