PIERRE – They just wouldn’t quit.
Down two sets to one to Harrisburg on Tuesday, Pierre Governor Volleyball rallied to force a fifth set. Then after being down 9-2 in that final set, Pierre stormed back for a dramatic five-set win over Harrisburg at the Riggs High Gym, 17-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-20, 16-14.
Harrisburg had match point at 14-13 in the fifth set, but then committed an error. Reese Terwilliger’s scoring block gave Pierre a 15-14 lead before another Tiger error ended the match.
Lily Sanchez had a career-high 16 kills to lead the Governors (12-3). Terwilliger had 13. Remington Price scored nine and Ayvrie Kaiser, despite not feeling well, had eight. MaKenna Schlekeway had four blocks for Pierre.
Abby Meister and Morrison Samuels had 19 kills each for Harrisburg. Samuels also served four aces.
