US food banks dealing with increased demand from families sidelined by the pandemic now face a new challenge– surging food prices and supply chain issues. As the holidays approach, some food banks worry they won’t have enough turkeys, stuffing and cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The good news is, YOU can be a Hunger Hero from today through Sunday (Nov. 10-14, 2021), by dropping off non-perishable food donations at the Karl’s store at its new location in the Northridge Plaza in Pierre.
Karl’s, Pierre Area Referral Service and DRG Media Group have teamed up to fight the injustice of hunger in Hughes and Stanley counties.
PARS executive director Corwin Jones tells us about some of the items they could use.
Jones says PARS is also currently accepting donations for holiday meals.
He says they can also use volunteers to ring bells during the holiday season.
The non-perishable food donations for the Hunger Heroes Food Drive should be dropped off at the Karl’s store– again at its new location in the Northridge Plaza– in Pierre.
