A 28 year old Pierre woman will spend time in the state women’s penitentiary after being sentenced last week (Nov. 16, 2021) by a Circuit Court judge.
Stanley County State’s Attorney Tom Maher says Ruby June Sazue was sentenced on two felony cases. Sazue was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment, in connection with a DUI 3rd Offense occurring in Dec. 2020 in Hughes County, and a Possession of Methamphetamine offense connected to a separate incident which occurred in April 2021 in Stanley County, while she was out on bond.
Sazue had prior felony convictions and had recently completed an intensive probation and treatment program in connection with a prior felony offense. Circuit Judge Bridget Mayer sentenced Sazue to 1 year in the Women’s penitentiary for the felony DUI, to be served consecutive to 2 years in the penitentiary for the felony drug offense. The judge also granted Sazue credit for time served.
Maher says Sazue will likely become parole eligible after serving a percentage of her sentence.
