The City of Pierre continues the unidirectional water line flushing process in preparation for the new drinking water treatment plant coming online next year.
City project manager Gidget Palmer says the work is over half done.
Palmer says flushing in two of the six zones has finished and city water crews are working on two more.
The water line flushing involves using water pressure to remove any material that has collected in the pipes. Palmer says it’s difficult to guess how long it will take to get through all six zones in Pierre because some areas have more material to clean out than others. Regardless, she says they’ll stop flushing lines around Christmas.
