A portion of the walking path in Pierre located between the Missouri River and the Oahe Sports Complex in the southeast part of town is temporarily closed.
The detour is signed and directs people north to the softball complex fields, through the complex and then back south to the walking path.
The path is closed as part of the wastewater treatment plant renovation project. A new pipe is being placed between the plant and the Missouri River. Once construction is finished, the path will be restored, complete with a pedestrian bridge. It’s expected to reopen early next year (2022).
