UPDATE JANUARY 17, 2022:
A 36-year-old woman from Hot Springs has been identified as the person who died Friday morning (Jan. 14, 2022) in a one-vehicle crash one mile west of Fort Pierre.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates Hayley Kern was driving a 2003 Nissan Xterra eastbound on US Highway 14 around 8:10am when the vehicle left roadway to the north and rolled. Kern, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The victim’s name is not yet being released.
