The Chair of the South Dakota Republican Party and the Kristi for Governor Campaign Manager both came out swinging today (Feb. 1, 2022) against the democrat who announced his candidacy for the state’s top government job.
GOP party Chair Dan Lederman says Democrat Jamie Smith’s candidacy for governor is a “stark reminder of what could have been if Democrats were in power during the pandemic: jobs lost, businesses closed, classrooms empty, and parents silenced as their children suffered.” Lederman says thanks to Noem’s leadership, South Dakota’s economy thrived, businesses kept their doors open and kids stayed in the classroom. In November, he says “South Dakotans will choose to move forward, not back.”
Kristi for Governor Campaign Manager Joe Desilets says Smith has an F rating with the NRA, supports abortion and government mandates and marched with Black Lives Matter. He called Smith “an extreme liberal whose policies have been rejected by South Dakotans for decades.”
