UPDATE FEBRUARY 8, 2022:
A federal court judge has determined the punishment for a 34 year old woman from Winner convicted of Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine.
Amber Heth was sentenced to 37 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, a $1,000 fine, and a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100.
The conviction stemmed from a conspiracy wherein Heth was involved with others, including her sister, to distribute over 50 grams or more of methamphetamine in and around Winner.
This case was investigated by the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges prosecuted the case.
Heth was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
JANUARY 18, 2021:
Two women from Winner, SD, have been indicted by a federal grand jury for Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine.
39 year old Andrea Kindt and 39 year old Amber Heth each pled not guilty.
The Indictments for each woman allege that beginning at a time unknown, but no later than on or before March 1, 2020, Kindt and Heth knowingly conspired with persons known and unknown to intentionally possess and distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine in and around Winner.
The maximum penalty if convicted is a mandatory minimum five years, up to 40 years in prison and/or a $5,000,000 fine, at least four years of supervised release and restitution may be ordered.
Kindt was released pending trial. Heth was remanded to the custody of the US Marshal Service pending trial. A trial date has been set for March 16, 2021.
