The Pierre School Board has approved the purchase of the social studies curriculum the district will use for the next eight years.
Director of Education Troy Wiebe told the board a committee of parents, board members, teachers and administrators looked through a handful of options.
Wiebe says the new curriculum will work, regardless of any state legislation dealing with the teaching of Critical Race Theory.
Wiebe says the curriculum they’re recommending comes from the same companies the district is currently using.
Wiebe breaks down the social studies topics covered at each level of school.
The final price tag is likely between $410,00 and $420,000.
