WATERTOWN – Viborg-Hurley’s improbable march to the title game continued with a win over Corsica-Stickney at the SDHSAA Class B Girls State Tournament at Watertown Civic Arena. The Cougars, who entered the SoDak 16 as the 11th seed before stopping Castlewood, upset state tournament top seed Aberdeen Roncalli on Thursday. Viborg-Hurley makes the title game for the first time.
DeSmet also makes its first girls championship game after a thrilling double-overtime win over Faith.
Semifinals
Viborg-Hurley 43, Corsica-Stickney 38
Two free throws by Coral Mason late in the fourth quarter put Viborg-Hurley (21-4) ahead to stay. Mason hit six-of-eight free throws and led the Cougars with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Denae Mach scored 10.
Avery Broughton scored 14 and Rachel Gerlach 12 for Corsica-Stickney (21-4).
De Smet 52, Faith 50 (2 OT)
Kennadi Buchholz hit a tie-breaking basket and free throw in the second overtime for De Smet (24-1). Buchholz scored 22 points with 21 rebounds and four steals.
Kaycee Groves scored 31 for Faith (19-6). She hit four three-pointers, including tying threes at the end of regulation and the first overtime.

Aberdeen Roncalli 59, White River 44
Aberdeen Christian 60, Wall 56
After leading by as many as 19 in the third quarter, Aberdeen Christian (21-4) held off a late Wall rally. Mallory Miller led the Knights with 24 points. Joy Rohrbach scored 16 and Grace Kaiser had 12.
Paige Kjerstad led Wall (21-4) with 16 points. Ava Dinger scored 11 for the Eagles and Nora Dinger had 10.
