NORTH PORT, FL – Though the Twins have played just two spring training games, they have offensive issues.
After managing only two hits Thursday in a 14-1 loss to the Red Sox, the Twins had only three Friday in a 3-1 loss to the Atlanta Braves at CoolToday Park.
Minnesota (0-2) didn’t have a hit until the ninth inning. Tim Beckham singled to lead it off. Later, Dennis Ortega had an RBI single and Jermaine Palacios singled.
Devin Smeltzer started and pitched two scoreless innings for the Twins, striking out two. Jovani Moran took the loss, allowing two runs in the third inning, one on a home run by Drew Waters.
The Twins will play their first 2022 game at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers Saturday against Boston.
