A jet skier who got lost on Lake Oahe last night (June 23, 2022) was found safely on shore after an extensive search by the Pierre Fire Department Rescue Squad and Game, Fish and Parks.
Pierre Fire Department Chief Ian Paul says the missing jet skier was last seen leaving the Cow Creek Recreation Area around 7pm.
Paul says Oahe is a big lake with a lot of area to search.
Paul says the missing operator and jet ski were located within three hours of searching, approximately five miles north of the Cow Creek area.
Also assisting with the search were the Sully County Sheriff’s Office and the Central South Dakota Communications Dispatch Center.
Pierre Rescue covers land and water rescue for a large portion of the Pierre and Fort Pierre area.
