PIERRE – After the Oahe Zap earned their first ever win Friday, Kyler Beekman made sure that the home team wouldn’t have its first winning streak.
Beekman struck out 13 and combined with two relievers on a four-hit shutout Saturday as the Badlands Big Sticks blanked the Zap 4-0 at Hyde Stadium.
Beekman, who pitches for Doane University, allowed just two hits in seven innings. His run support consisted of a second inning RBI single by Isaac Huettl and Danny Rogers’ three-run homer in the seventh.
Boone Lasater pitched well in four innings for the Zap (1-4), but took the loss. He allowed a run and four hits with three strikeouts. Oahe managed only four hits.
