The Walworth County Commission held their first regular meeting of the month on Tuesday, August 8th.
Highway
The commission passed motions for two utility easements to use Right of Way for water line placements.
A travel request for Tom Hannan to attend a highway superintendent certification class in Pierre was approved.
A motion was approved to authorize the highway superintendent to sign a contract with KLJ Engineering that will provide for site visits of two bridge structures. The agreement will also prepare applications for both structures under the Bridge Improvement Grant Program through the State of South Dakota.
The commission approved the plan for asphalt surface treatment for 2023, but leaving out six miles of 109 south of Java.
Sheriff
On a 3 to 2 vote, the commission approved advertising for a budget supplement hearing for $70,000 to the Vehicle and Major Equipment line item of the 2023 budget, so the Sheriff’s department can purchase a vehicle and get it fitted with the needed equipment.
Auditor
The commissioners authorized the Auditor to advertise for a budget supplement for 911 services.
