SEPTEMBER 27, 2023:
A 32 year old man from Yankton has been sentenced to 85 years in prison, with 20 years suspended, after he earlier pled guilty to one count of First Degree Manslaughter.
South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says the sentence for Trevor Wayne Harrison of Yankton was delivered Monday (Sept. 25, 2023) in Yankton County Circuit Court.
Harrison was charged for the November 2022 shooting death of his former girlfriend at Yankton home. Harrison also will have to pay restitution.
Jackley said this sentence brings resolution to a violent crime and perhaps some comfort to the victim’s family.
Agencies involved in the investigation were the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and the Yankton Police Department. Prosecution of the case was handled by the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office and the Yankton County State’s Attorney’s Office.
NOVEMBER 21, 2022:
The man accused of killing a Yankton woman earlier this month (Nov. 6, 2022) made a court appearance today (Nov. 21, 2022) and entered a plea.
Trevor Wayne Harrison pled not guilty to charges of first- and second-degree murder, first degree manslaughter, and other felony counts in connection to the Nov. 6, 2022, death of 26 year old Jade Rembold.
The state will decide by early January on pursuing the death penalty. Harrison’s next court appearance will be Feb. 24, 2023.

NOVEMBER 10, 2022:
The suspect in Sunday’s (Nov. 6, 2022) homicide in Yankton made his initial appearance in court Wednesday morning (Nov. 9, 2022).
During the initial appearance it was announced Trevor Wayne Harrison of Yankton is facing a charge of homicide as murder in the first-degree and, in the alternate, homicide as murder in the second-degree. Harrison can ultimately only be convicted of one of the charges.
The South Dakota Attorney General’s Office confirmed that the victim in Sunday’s shooting was 26-year-old Jade Rembold, of Yankton.
Homicide as murder in the first-degree is a Class A felony and is punishable by either life in prison or the death penalty and up to a $50,000 fine. Harrison, who is on probation stemming from a previous conviction this year, is also facing a probation violation if convicted.
Yankton Police were called to a home on Whiting Drive about 8PM. Sunday night where Rembolds body was found.
Harrison’s arraignment was set for Nov. 21 at 10am.
