PIERRE – The maximum amount of work was needed Tuesday, but Pierre Governor Volleyball used it to snap its losing streak.
Pierre outlasted Huron at the Riggs High Gym 19-25, 25-18, 25-12, 14-25, 15-6 to end a five-match losing streak and win for the first time since September 26.
Pierre rallied after Huron won the first set, the Governors’ 13th straight losing set, taking sets two and three, running away in the third before Huron dominated the fourth set. Pierre jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the fifth set. Huron scored three straight, then the Governors scored the match’s last five points.
Reese Terwilliger had 18 kills and two blocks for Pierre (9-7). Abby Kropp registered 14 kills and an ace. Campbell Boddicker had 10 kills. Campbell Cronin had nine kills, three aces and a block.
Aly Davis led Huron (12-12) with 13 kills.
It was the fifth five-set match for the Governors this season. Pierre has won four of them.
