NOVEMBER 21, 2023:
The Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce held its 23rd Annual Parade of Lights last night (Nov. 20, 2023).
The 1st place float was Deucez Wild Repair & Custom. 2nd place went to TMA and 3rd place was given to Dakota Mill & Grain. Winning the Mayor’s Choice Award was Hillsview Golf Course. The Griswold Award went to CommTech.
On Friday (Nov. 24, 2023) will be Fort Pierre’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Cowboy Christmas activities. There will be wagon rides and a chili cookoff from 4-6pm CT, followed by caroling at 6pm CT and the tree lighting ceremony at 6:30pm. Doug and Dawn Day from Fort Pierre donated this year’s tree.
NOVEMBER 20, 2023:
The Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its 23rd Annual Parade of Lights tonight (Nov. 20, 2023).
Parade line-up and judging begins at 5pm CT in the TF Riggs High School parking lot. The parade starts at 6pm CT. It will go from the parking lot to Highland, Pleasant and Pierre streets, concluding at the American Legion Cabin.
Community members are encouraged to participate by entering a float in the parade. Parade entries can include floats, marching bands, dance groups, walkers, vehicles, and even animals or horses. There is no participation fee; however, voluntary donations are welcomed to help offset the parade’s costs at the Pierre Area Chamber of Commerce. While pre-registration is encouraged, it is not mandatory. Registration forms and a parade route map can be accessed on the Pierre Area Chamber’s website at www.pierre.org.
Prizes will be awarded for the first, second and third place entries as well as the Mayor’s Choice and Griswold awards, all made possible through the support of local businesses.

Continuing with the holiday festivities, the Christmas at the Capitol Grand Tree Lighting Ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda in Pierre will be held tomorrow (Nov. 21, 2023) at 7pm CT.
