MILLER – Miller and Stanley County both provided wins for new head basketball coaches on Thursday.
Miller rallied in the fourth quarter for a 46-38 girls win in the debut of Rustler girls head coach Eric Norden. Paige Werdel led Miller with 14 points and Gracen Werdel scored 10.
Stanley County (0-2), who led 29-25 through three quarters, had 15 points from Mattie Duffy, all on three-pointers, and 14 by Cadence Hand.
In the first game for new head coach Joey Fischer, Stanley County’s boys stormed out to a 12-point lead before Miller rallied, but the Buffaloes came back for a 73-69 win. Kaden Montana scored a career-high 36 for SC. Broch Zeeb had 32, including two free throws with 1:34 remaining that gave Stanley County the lead for good.
Alex Schumacher scored 45 for Miller, including seven three-pointers, and scored 22 of his points in the third quarter.
