The State Dual Wrestling Tournaments are set for Saturday (Feb. 10, 2024), but for the first time the tournaments will be held separately from the State Individual Tournaments, which will be in two weeks on their customary end-of-February weekend.
The Pierre Governors are the #2 seed in the Class A bracket and will match up against #7 West Central in the quarterfinal round Saturday in Brookings. The other first-round dual in the bottom half of the bracket has third-seeded Rapid City Stevens against #6 Watertown. Top-seeded Sturgis will battle #8 Tea Area while #4 Aberdeen Central gets the five seed Brandon Valley in the top half of the bracket.
All three rounds of the State Dual Tournaments will be wrestled on Saturday. Pierre is the defending champion and hoping for a third Dual Team title in the past four seasons. Meanwhile the Class B Dual Tournament will be held in Watertown and feature several teams from central South Dakota. Winner Area is the top seed and will battle Custer in the first round while the Badlands Brawlers of Philip/Kadoka/Wall draw Kimball/White Lake/Platte-Geddes. Three-time defending champion Canton is the two-seed and will meet #7 Miller/Highmore-Harrold and it’ll be #3 Bon Homme/Avon against #6 Clark/Willow Lake in the bottom bracket.
