Mitchell and Estelline/Hendricks both repeated as Team Champions at the State Gymnastics Meet over the weekend (Feb. 9-10, 2024).
Mitchell totaled 151.444 points to win their ninth Class AA title overall during the Team Event on Friday. The Kernels have placed in the top two for eleven years running now. Harrisburg came in second with 149.995 points, while the Pierre Governors placed sixth overall among the eight teams qualified with 137.811. Estelline/Hendricks won their second straight Class A title with 142.596 points, ahead of Madison’s second place total of 138.911. Chamberlain placed seventh with 130.427 points.
Saturday was Individual Day, and Katelyn Maeschen of Harrisburg earned the All Around title by tallying 38.799 points across four events. Bentley Bates of Mitchell was second with 38.299. Navaeh Karber of Pierre earned All Tournament honors by placing in the top ten. Karber totaled 35.682 to take ninth place. Ryan Sheppick of Pierre finished 13th. Among Class A individuals, Sadie Johnson of Estelline/Hendricks claimed the All Around with 37.982 points ahead of London Sudbeck of Parkston/Ethan/Hanson with 35.815. Two Chamberlain competitors earned named to the All Tournament team, as Amelia Jones placed sixth and Kylah Biggins finished eighth overall.
