UNDATED (AP)- NBA champion and “Survivor” contestant Scot Pollard is “awake and feeling great” a day after a heart transplant, according to his wife. Dawn Pollard said Friday on social media that the new heart her husband received was a perfect fit for his 6-foot-11, 260-pound body. She wrote Saturday that his breathing tube had been removed and Pollard was cracking jokes and singing. Scot Pollard turned 49 on Monday. He needed a transplant because of a genetic condition that was likely triggered by a virus he caught in 2021. Pollard’s size complicated efforts to find a donor with a heart big enough to fit his large body. He was admitted to intensive care at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Feb. 7.
