DECEMBER 4, 2023:

Three Central South Dakota girls teams and two boys teams are in the preseason South Dakota Media High School Basketball Polls, released Monday (Dec. 4, 2023).

The Pierre Governor Girls, off a state championship game appearance last March, are fourth in the AA girls poll and are one of four teams to receive at least one first-place vote.

Lyman is number three in the Class B girls poll, with Sully Buttes tied for fifth.

White River and Lower Brule are both ranked in the Class B boys poll, with White River third and Lower Brule fifth.  The Tigers have qualified for the state tournament for 18 consecutive seasons, while the Sioux have been the runner-up each of the last two seasons.
