The Pierre City Commission has awarded (Feb. 25, 2025) the last two annual contracts for its 2025 street construction projects.
The $365,000 slurry seal contract involved the application of an oil-based treatment to approximately 40 blocks of city street. The seal extends the life of the driving surface by improving traction control for motorists while preventing moisture from penetrating the street surface.
In the $109,000 aggregate base course contract, gravel will be provided to rebuild streets and provide material for other city projects.
When combined, the approved curb and gutter contracts and asphalt contract will result in more than 120 blocks of street improvements during the 2025 construction season. If conditions allow construction on city projects is anticipated to start as early as April.
