A woman from Pierre is traveling to San Juan, Puerto Rico, this week (April 24-26, 2025) to compete in the 2025 American Mother of the Year competition.
Skyla Nicholas said she was nominated to be one of the South Dakota Mother of the Year contestants.
The national contest is Thursday-Saturday, but Nicholas said she’s already completed some parts of the competition.
Nicholas said she’s looking forward to networking with the other American Mother of the Year contestants.
What does Nicholas enjoy most about being a mom?
In 2001, Jean “Dawn” Morris of Fort Pierre earned both the South Dakota and the American Mother of the Year titles.
