The Hughes/Stanley County Office of Emergency Management will conduct a test on the outdoor warning siren system Tuesday (April 29, 2025) at 10:15am.
Emergency Manager AJ Rounds says this test is the start of ongoing efforts in the two counties to ensure the effectiveness of the emergency warning system. He says during the test, residents in the following areas will hear outdoor sirens:
- Pierre,
- Fort Pierre,
- Oahe Downstream,
- Spring/Cow Creek,
- Whispering Pines,
- Grey Goose,
- Oahe Acres,
- Blunt,
- Harrold and
- West Bend Rec area.
The sirens will sound for approximately three minutes, but no action is required from residents during the test.
A monthly siren test will be conducted in Hughes and Stanley counties from April through October.
