A large building was destroyed, but no one was injured during a fire Monday afternoon (May 5, 2025) just east of Pierre.
Pierre Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief AJ Rounds says the fire spread through the building quickly.
Rounds says there wasn’t much inside the building to get destroyed.
Rounds says a second fire started nearby.
As for the cause of the fire….
Other agencies responding were the Fort Pierre Volunteer Fire Department, Hughes County Highway Department, Hughes County Sheriff’s Office and Pierre Rescue.
