It was Pierre Wildcat night at Hyde Stadium as the Zap were in search of their fifth straight win at home. In total, there were nearly 70 Special Olympics athletes in attendance and a crowd that mirrored opening day in size. The Zap were not only looking for their fifth straight win, but were hoping to score 10+ more runs for the fifth straight time as well. Zap fan-favorite Vince Polizzi did his part in that effort hitting not one, but two homeruns adding up to four total RBI’s. Polizzi’s bat has been on fire lately, hitting four homeruns (including two grand slams) in his last three starts, and that has been rubbing off on the rest of the team.
The Zap would hang onto win it 5-4 and secure the series sweep of Plainsmen, sending the large contingent of Wildcats and Zap fans home happy. The Zap now get a well deserved off day before welcoming in the Nebraska Prospects into town for a two-game weekend series. Game one on Saturday will get underway at 6:05 PM CT and the game Sunday will be an afternoon start at 2:30 PM CT. You can get tickets on OaheZap.com, if you can’t make it to the game we will have coverage on River 92.7 and streaming on DRGnews.com.
