As Travel South Dakota’s popular Passport Program continues to inspire exploration across all corners of the state, a new passport is ready to show visitors the agricultural side of South Dakota. The recently launched Agritourism Adventures Passport is designed to connect visitors with farms, ranches and rural communities across South Dakota.
The passport features 40 check-in locations statewide, encouraging visitors to explore agriculture through hands-on experiences, local products, and one-of-a-kind destinations.
“South Dakota’s agricultural heritage is a cornerstone of our state,” said James Hagen, Secretary of the South Dakota Department of Tourism. “This passport invites people to experience the real South Dakota, learn where their food comes from, meet farmers and ranchers, experience rural life and discover unexpected locations.”
Participants can visit a variety of agritourism destinations, including working farms, creameries, flower farms, and other agricultural attractions. Stops include Back Forty Beef Adventure Farm and Corn Maze near Pierpont, Blue Tin Ranch near Burbank, Dimock Dairy Products in Dimock, Farm Life Creamery near Ethan, Flourish Flower Farm near Elk Point, Hydeout Agritourism near Highmore, The Good Earth Farm near Lennox, and the South Dakota Tractor Museum in Kimball.
The Agritourism Adventures Passport is part of the broader Travel South Dakota Passport Program, which uses a mobile platform and rewards system to encourage exploration of destinations across the state and offer a deeper connection to South Dakota’s landscape and economy.
The free passport is delivered instantly via text and email, with no app download required. Users can check in at participating locations using GPS-based technology when they are within close proximity. Each check-in earns points that can be redeemed for prizes, ranging from souvenirs and apparel to premium outdoor gear. Points accumulate over time, allowing participants to continue earning rewards as they explore.
The program supports rural communities by driving visitation to small towns and promoting locally owned businesses and experiences.
Travelers can sign up for the Agritourism Adventures Passport and begin planning their route at TravelSouthDakota.com/Passports.
