Thursday night, two programs in the upper echelon of high school volleyball clashed on KPLO as the 11-win Miller Rustlers travelled to take on the 11-win Parkston Trojans. Parkston coming off of a five-set thriller with McCook Central Montrose in which they won, looked to make it three straight wins. The Rustlers had won 8 of their last 9 matches and were gunning for a big win for their postseason rankings.
The Trojans won a back-and-forth first set, 25-23 to take an early lead, but were quickly answered back by Miller who won set two 25-17. Parkston would go onto win the next two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-22 to win the match 3-1.
On the bright side for Miller, they scored 20 or more points in all four sets as they continue to play really synced up volleyball throughout the end of September and into October. The Trojans now sit at 12-6 while Miller falls to 11-5.
The Trojans will host 6-5 Ethan coming up next Monday night while Miller will have another competitive test against 11-7 Mt. Vernon-Plankinton on Tuesday of next week.
