SIOUX FALLS – Central South Dakotans are part of the South Dakota Basketball Coaches Association All-State Girls Basketball Teams, released Friday.
Senior guard Bella Swedlund of Winner is first team in Class A. Swedlund was second in scoring in Class A girls basketball at 22.4 points a game. She also averaged 8.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists, had 59 steals, 12 blocked shots, hit 38 three-pointers and made 73 percent of her free throws.
Mya Knippling, the 6’1” senior center for Chamberlain, made third team in Class A. Knippling’s 59 blocks were the most in the classification. She averaged a double-double at 18.7 points and 10.2 rebounds. She shot 51 percent from the field and 75 percent on free throws.
Senior Maleighya Estes of White River is a first-team all-state player in Class B. Estes, who ended her career with over 2,200 points, led South Dakota in scoring at 27 points per game. She also averaged seven rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.2 steals per game, made 15 three-pointers, and shot 45 percent from the floor and 75 percent from the free throw line.
Faulkton Area senior Isabel Aesoph and Herreid/Selby Area senior Kendall Sawinsky were named to the third team. Aesoph averaged 18.7 points, five rebounds and 4.6 steals per game. Sawinsky hit 17.5 points per game, with averages of five rebounds and 7.3 steals, 48 percent on field goals and 72 percent on free throws.
Players of the year are Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda of Sioux Falls Washington in AA, Dakota Valley’s Rylee Rosenquist in Class A and Kennadi Buchholz of De Smet in Class B.
