RAPID CITY – Rapid City Stevens had four state champions in singles with one champion doubles team to successfully defend its title at the SDHSAA Girls AA Tennis State Championships, which concluded Friday.
Stevens scored 479 points, 109 more than runner-up O’Gorman. Sioux Falls Lincoln was third with 368.
Anna Mueller of Stevens won the #3 singles championship for the second straight year and teammate Kaiya Parkin won the #4 singles title after winning the #6 singles flight in 2021. Other Stevens champions were Arabella Scott in #5 singles, Evelyn Haar in #6 singles and Mueller/Lindsey Pfingston in #3 doubles.
Sioux Falls Jefferson’s Avery Summers won the #1 singles flight for the second straight year and Charlotte Crawford of Sioux Falls Lincoln repeated as #2 singles champion.
O’Gorman’s Maya Jamous and Ashlyn Garrett won the title in #1 doubles, with Jaida Young and Leyla Meester of Watertown winning in #2 doubles.
