Timothy Richard Gonzales, 57, was born on June 8, 1965 in Longmont, Colorado. He grew up with his grandparents, Manuel and Flora Alcala in Puritan Camp, Colorado. He attended school in Erie from preschool through high school, graduating in 1983. During his school years he played football and was on the wrestling team. His love of sports followed him to adulthood, whether it was cheering on the Denver Broncos, his nieces and nephews at their games, or playing in a softball league himself. He moved to Laughlin, Nevada with his brother and spent two years there working as a chef before eventually moving back to Colorado. It was there he met Mary Fischer while they both worked at Hewlett Packard in Greeley. They were married in Estes Park and one year later, they welcomed their daughter, Kristina Rose into the world. Tim had fallen in love with South Dakota while visiting his wife’s family. It was then he decided he wanted to raise his family there and they moved shortly after Kristina was born. Tim’s kind and gentle soul ensured that he never met a stranger. His clients through Sara Lee, customers at Lucky’s Gas Station, and coworkers at Grand River Casino knew that Tim was the person to go to for a good laugh and to talk with. He served as the big cuddly teddy bear to his daughter, nieces, and nephews and as honorary grandpa to Hayzen Iron Thunder.
He is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Kristina (Milwaukee, WI), father Manuel Luis, siblings Manuel Jr, Michael, Paul, and Julie Nanez, and Aunt Chris Gomez.
Preceded in death by his grandparents Manuel and Flora Alcala, mother Elizabeth Luis, brother Steven Luis, aunt Rosann Garza, cousin Barbara Garza, and parents-in-law Clayton and Betty Fischer.
