Raymond “Todd” Fiddler was born to Raymond Two Bear and Loretta (Corky) Fiddler on November 26, 1966, in Mobridge, SD. He spent his early years of life in the Mobridge and White Horse area. Todd enjoyed spending time with his aunts, uncles, and cousins at his great grandparent’s place in White Horse, SD. He attended school in Mobridge until they moved to Morgan Hill, CA to be closer to his grandmother Lola. He then attended the rest of his school years there in California. He graduated from high school in 1984 from Pittsburgh HS in Pittsburgh, CA. Todd then recruited into the US Army. He served in Germany and later returned to the California Bay Area. During that time Todd met his girlfriend of 32 years, Terri Porter. Todd then moved to Arizona and learned the trade of building and repair houses. After getting Pneumonia, Todd was hospitalized for 4 months in an induced coma for recovery. Todd then had to learn how to walk and speak again. Todd has always been a fighter. After recovering from his illness, he then returned to California. Todd then pursued his education and attended college to earn his degree in Drug/Alcohol Counseling and became involved in the Multi-Tribal Native American Community in the San Francisco Bay Area. He also enjoyed singing at Pow Wow’s with the local drum group called Swift Cloud, as he enjoyed attending many Pow Wow’s in the area. Todd served as a founding coordinator and mental health advocate of the Native American Component of the Santa Clara County Ethnic/Culture Communities Advisory Committee (ECCAC).
Todd had a passion for working with wood, so he started his woodwork and box building company Mato Numpo Cedar Designs. He made and built aromatic cedar boxes for storage and protection of Native medicine and regalia. With the love of children, he also taught classes for children to learn to work with wood by making birdhouses.
Todd was a dedicated family man and loved his family with all his heart. He will be deeply missed by many, but at the same time leaves each of us with very fond memories of his beautiful soul.
