Memorial services for William “Bill” Hardcastle, 72, of Mobridge will be at 5 PM, Monday, September 11, 2023, at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge with Pastor Dale Hamre officiating. Bill passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, at his home in Mobridge.
William Gordon Hardcastle, Jr. was born on October 27, 1950, in Mobridge to Bill Sr and Ora Jean (Juellfs) Hardcastle. He was the third of their 8 children. He grew up in Mobridge, participated in sports as a standout athlete, notably in basketball and graduated from Mobridge High School in 1968. After graduation, Bill moved around the country doing various jobs and making new friends.
Bill married Deb Hartle in 1977 and they made their home in Mobridge. They had four children; Brandie, Kristie, Lacey, and Billy. Bill worked for Hardcastle Transfer and Storage for many years, moving families all over the country. He also worked for American Freight, Cenex, Thorstenson Trucking, the City of Mobridge and finally Grand River Casino until his retirement in 2015. Bill enjoyed collecting coins and gardening and was a member of the Coin Club and Mobridge Garden Club for many years. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan through good years and bad. His most recent favorite pastime was sitting on his front porch with his family and cat and enjoying the view.
Bill will be missed by his children, Brandie of St Paul, MN, Kristie (Kris) of Vestavia Hills AL, Lacey of Peoria AZ, and Billy of Minneapolis, MN and grandchildren Evan and Nolan. Siblings, Cathy Brockamp, Carol Fischer, and Tom (Teddy) Hardcastle all of Mobridge, Sherry of Glendale AZ, Patty (Tom Bieder) of Manchester TN, Kim (Clint Hamre) of Peoria AZ and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Jean, brother Jon Hardcastle, and brothers in law Jim Brockamp and Dennis Fischer and many friends that went before him that Bill missed dearly.
Memorial services will be held at Kesling Funeral Home on Monday September 11, 2023, at 5 pm with a dinner following at the Senior Citizens Center.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Bill’s name to Pets n Stuff in Mobridge to help animals in need. As Bill would often say “I like animals more than people”.
