Susie Romero, 46, of Cherry Creek, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024, in Grand Island, NE.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. MST, Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Cherry Creek Gym.
Burial will follow in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cemetery, Cherry Creek. A wake will be 7:00 p.m.,
Friday, January 26, 2024, at the gym with a procession from the hill east of town at 4:00 p.m.
Susie Romero was born January 9, 1977, at Pine Ridge, SD, to Delmas Romero Sr. and Belva
(Runs After) Romero.
She grew up in Wanblee, SD, and then she later moved to Cherry Creek, SD. Susie moved to
Sioux Falls with her three children in 2003, and then in 2006 she moved to Grand Island, NE.
She completed her CDL training on November 6, 2018, and earned her hazmat training shortly
after.
Susie enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandkids. She made sure all of her
grandbabies had everything they needed. She loved cookouts, birthday parties, and going for
walks in the park. She helped whenever and wherever she could.
Susie loved to travel, and she has taken trips to Las Vegas, NV; Taos, NM; Boston, MA;
Oklahoma City, OK; Kansas City, MO; and everywhere else in between. But, most of all she
loved Texas. She was really happy to be there. She loved to visit the casinos whenever she could,
and she liked to collect souvenirs from the places she visited. Her special friend, Domingo
Alvarez, accompanied her on most trips and casino visits. She met Domingo in 2015, and he’s
been a big part of the family ever since.
Susie is survived by her children: Danielle Rivera-Bagola, Devlin Romero and Rayeanna Uses
Many, all of Grand Island, NE; grandchildren: Leon Romero, Maria, Anneliese, and Joselyn
Rivera-Bagola, Adelyn Romero-Garcia and Koda Summer; brothers: James Romero of Taos,
NM, Justin Romero of Cherry Creek, SD, and Russell Romero of Eagle Butte, SD; sisters: Rose
Romero, Mabel Romero and Marion Romero all of Cherry Creek, SD; half-brothers: David
Marrowbone and Calvin Edwards Sr.; and numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, and nephews that
we haven’t mentioned.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Delmas Romero Sr. and Belva (Runs After) Romero;
siblings: Max Romero, Delmas Romero Jr., Florence Romero, Tamara Bowker; nieces, Leeann
Little Shield and Paula Marrowbone; and grandchild, Ariya Red Elk.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Susie’s arrangements.
