MARCH 22, 2024:
A 38-year-old man from Fort Pierre and a 59-year-old man from Chandler, Minnesota, have been identified as the men who were killed Monday evening (March 18, 2024, 7:43pm) in a two-vehicle crash in Lyman County.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates a Ford F-350 driven by Ryan Taylor was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of SD I-90 near Reliance. At the same time, a 2024 Kenworth T680 semi-truck driven by Daniel Kirkpatrick was going east in the eastbound lanes. The vehicles crashed head-on. Taylor was pronounced deceased at the scene. Kirkpatrick was transported to a Chamberlain hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

Two men died Monday evening (March 18, 2024, 7:43pm) in a two-vehicle crash in Lyman County.
The names of the people involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates the 38 year old male was driving a Ford F-350 westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-90 near Reliance. At the same time, a 59 year old male was driving a semi-truck east in the eastbound lanes of I-90. The vehicles crashed head-on. The driver of the F-350 received fatal injuries. The driver of the semi-truck was transported to a Chamberlain hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
