Jan. 22, 2026:
The Pierre School Board has approved a series of bid packages for the wrestling room and theater addition project at T.F. Riggs High School.
During a special meeting on Wednesday (Jan. 21, 2026), Business Manager Travis Dovre told Pierre School Board members that, for the most part, there was good interest in the project from contractors.
Dovre said the bids include one of the projects they were hoping would be able to be added on.
The project includes paving the parking lot around the wrestling room and theater addition, which led board member Randy Hartmann to ask Dovre when repairing the entire high school parking lot falls in the district’s five-year improvement plan.
Board member Jessica Lewis said the Riggs parking lot could use some TLC.
The Pierre School Board approved 26 of the 27 bids received for the Riggs wrestling room and theater addition project. The one area will be rebid, but that amount will have very little impact on the roughly $7.9 million total price tag for the project.

June 10, 2026:
The locations of a new athletic addition and extended theatre space for Pierre T.F. Riggs High School are starting to come together.
School District Business Manager Travis Dovre says they were considering whether the added space would stand alone or be attached to the current building.
Dovre says they’re shooting for no more than a $10 million price tag for the additions.
Board member Dan Cronin recapped a meeting held with engineers last week.
As the plan moves forward, Pierre School District staff will be working with engineers to fine tune what things are needed in the athletic and theatre additions and what things could be eliminated to keep the projects within the current budget.
