Pierre Rural Volunteer Fire Department Chief Doug Hinkle named State Fire Marshal for South Dakota

Doug Hinkle has been appointed to the position of State Fire Marshal for South Dakota.

According to information posted on the state Department of Public Safety’s Facebook page Nov. 6, 2025, Hinkle has dedicated more than 25 years to public safety. He’s currently the chief of the Pierre Rural Volunteer Fire Department and has previously work in emergency management and as the State Fire Marshal’s Chief Deputy.
