The Fort Pierre Development Corporation selected Sioux Nation as its 2025 Business of the Year.
Executive Director Dave Bonde said Chad Stoeser and Cody Hostler bought Sioux Nation from Reggie Nelson and Stephen Magadanz in 2016.
Sioux Nation co-owner Cody Hostler said finding employees is challenging in Fort Pierre and the surrounding area, so they’ve decided to sponsor three Build Dakota scholarships as a way to strengthen their employee base.
Hostler said they eventually hope to be sponsoring up to 10 Build Dakota scholarships between Sioux Nation and their Drake Seed seed cleaning facility.
Sioux Nation co-owner Chad Stoeser said they also support internships.
Fort Pierre Mayor Gloria Hanson said Sioux Nation’s growth enabled the city to become eligible for a grant to fix Buffalo Road.
In June 2025, Sioux Nation celebrated 40 years of operating in Fort Pierre, with the seed cleaning portion of the business having started about 15 years ago using a portable seed cleaner.
Hostler and Stoeser received their 2025 Business of the Year award during the Fort Pierre Development Corporation’s annual meeting Tuesday night (Jan. 27, 2026).
