City officials from Philip and Kadoka will serve another term as chair and vice-chair for District 8 of the South Dakota Municipal League.
Philip City Administrator Brittany Smith was re-elected chair and Kadoka Finance Officer LaTasha Buchholz was re-elected vice chair during a meeting this week (April 7, 2026) in Midland.
As the district chair, Smith will represent, and act as a contact for, their members on the Municipal League Board of Directors. Duties began immediately.
Sara Rankin, Municipal League executive director, spoke about the outcome of the 2026 Legislative Session and the effect new laws will have on municipalities. Other topics of discussion included nuisance property and grant funding opportunities for infrastructure improvement.
The 2027 District 8 meeting will be held in Philip.
