PIERRE, S.D. – On Monday, May 4, 2026, crews will begin removing and replacing pavement markings in the Pierre area on U.S. Highways 14/83 and S.D. Highway 34. The pavement marking project includes the following locations:
- Highway 83 from south of the S.D. Highway 1806 junction through Fort Pierre to the Highway 14/83 junction;
- Highway 14 from the Highway 1806 junction in Fort Pierre through Pierre on Sioux Avenue and Wells Avenue stopping west of Harrison Avenue;
- Highway 14 From Highway 14/34 junction north to the four-lane divide (Garfield Avenue); and
- Highway 14 from one mile west of the Highway 14/83 intersection (Blunt junction) to one-half mile east of the junction.
Crews will be working with a combination of lane closures and flaggers to complete this project. Motorists are encouraged to reduce speed through the work zone. The pavement marking project is expected to be complete in three to four weeks.
The estimated completion date on the $1.4 million project is Friday, June 5, 2026.
