Emergency maintenance will be performed Thursday (July 23, 2026) on the railroad crossing on Ree Street in Pierre.
The work is expected to begin and be completed the same day.
Street parking along Ree Street, including parking near the Boys & Girls Club, will remain available. In addition, entrances to businesses located south of the railroad crossing on Ree Street will remain accessible from Sioux Avenue.
During construction, through traffic will not be permitted across the railroad tracks. People should use alternative routes to get from East Capital Avenue to Sioux Avenue/South Dakota Highway 34.
The City of Pierre appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while this important maintenance is completed.
