After taking last year off, horse racing makes its comeback this weekend (Oct. 3-4, 2020) in Fort Pierre.
Track manager Shane Kramme says there’ll be 15 races between the two days.
He says parimutual betting opportunities will be available for those who want to participate.
While the horse races are being held outdoors, Kramme encourages spectators to wear masks and social distance.
Saturday and Sunday’s horse races will be held at the Stanley County Fairgrounds in Fort Pierre. Post time for the first race each day is 1pm CT.
No coolers allowed. Concessions will be available under the grandstand.
Last year was the first time in 70 years there were no horse races in Fort Pierre. The Verendrye Benevolent Association– the group that hosts the races– canceled them due to lack of funding and several other considerations.
